RRRArchitecture ist 2023 aus dem Büro Muck Petzet Architekten hervorgegangen und konzentriert sich auf Planungs- und Beratungsaufgaben in den Bereichen Transformation, Vermeidung, Sanierung und zirkuläres Bauen. RRRArchitecture verbindet umfangreiche Erfahrung im Umbau bestehender Gebäude aus über 70 realisierten Projekten mit dem Wissen aus intensiver Forschung zu Transformationsstrategien, Wirkungsanalysen und Nachhaltigkeit.

REDUCE REUSE RECYCLE
Wir alle kennen die 3R, symbolisiert durch die drei Pfeile des allgegenwärtigen Recyclingsymbols. Das RRR-System oder die "Abfallpyramide" wurde entwickelt, um klare Richtlinien und eine Hierarchie für Abfallbewirtschaftungsstrategien zu schaffen. In diesem System ist "Reduzieren" oder "Vermeiden" immer die beste Option. An zweiter Stelle steht die Wiederverwendung, und zwar so oft und so lange wie möglich. Recycling wird als letzte Option gesehen, die nur dann zum Einsatz kommen sollte, wenn eine Wiederverwendung nicht möglich ist.
Mit dem Deutschen Pavillon auf der 13. Architekturbiennale in Venedig 2012 hat Muck Petzet dieses System in den Kontext der Architektur gestellt: Gibt es eine ähnliche

Heute sind diese Konzepte weithin akzeptiert - aber zwischen Rhetorik und Handeln klafft immer noch eine große Lücke. Wir plädieren daher dafür, das RRR-System zur Grundlage des gesetzlichen Rahmens für unsere gebaute Umwelt zu machen.

"Wahrheit" im Umgang mit bestehender Architektur? Ist der beste Eingriff der geringste? Lässt sich die Hierarchie von Vermeidungs-, Wiederverwendungs- und Recyclingstrategien auf Transformationsstrategien für bestehende Gebäude übertragen? Die Ausstellung definierte bestehende Architektur und ihr verkörpertes Potenzial als entscheidende Ressource für unsere Zukunft und propagierte eine affirmative Haltung und ein neues Verständnis der Rolle von Architekt:innen.
