ABOUT

ReduceReuseRecycleArchitectureAssociation (RRRAA) is an international network of architects, urbanists, experts, and researchers. We initiate, consult, teach, research, inform, explore, publish, and exhibit, constantly redefining our understanding of and relationship with the built environment.

RRRAA is a non-profit organisation that brings together like-minded players in real estate and architecture – to change this field towards a regenerative future. Our members are offices, institutions or individuals who collaborate to support our oganisation's goals and strengthen its expertise. With the RRRAAssociation's support, our members consult, plan, redevelop, adapt and rebuild under the guidelines of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle - propagating an affirmative attitude towards existing buildings and structures.

RRRAA-supported projects are discussed and evaluated in a cooperative process. They are reviewed and enriched by a transdisciplinary and international discourse and are accompanied by our experts. The RRRAA-label stands for minimal intervention strategies that aim to achieve the most positive social impact with the most minimal ecological consequences.

VALUES

Our guiding principle is Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Reduce unnecessary interventions, Reuse what is already on site, and Recycle what cannot be reused. Where others see the unsuitable, outdated, shabby, or ugly, we see potential and beauty. Existing architecture contains physical, energetic, spatial, social, historical, legal, environmental, and economic resources that can be redeveloped and elevated to new levels.

DISCOURSE

RRRAA is founded on a fundamental discourse that challenges our role as architects.
What does it mean to develop existing frameworks and structures rather than designing something anew?
Can we change users' perceptions or behaviours without making material interventions?
What compels us to constantly change and renew?
What are the interests at stake?
How can we shift the building industry toward a circular economy?
How can architecture become a means to create more bonds with our environment?
How can we propel the education, legal framework, and politics of architecture?
